Pipeline Erosion and Sedimentation Control Workshop

Working with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Marcellus Shale Coalition will offer oil and gas industry stakeholders and inspectors the opportunity to attend a workshop on Pipeline Erosion & Sedimentation Control Implementation and Maintenance. This workshop will build on the requirements of the new ESCGP-2 permit which went live in January 2013. The primary focus is field implementation and maintenance of Erosion and Sedimentation (E&S) controls during pipeline construction. Continuing Education Credits available.

Marcellus Summer Camp 2013

Sponsored by The Marcellus Institute at Mansfield University and The Shale Training & Education Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology, the Marcellus Camp is an opportunity for students in grades 10-12 to learn about the development of shale gas resources in Pennsylvania and the career and educational opportunities available after high school!

Campers will receive an introduction to the natural gas industry and possible career paths by participating in hands-on learning sessions presented by Mansfield University and Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty and staff as well as field experts on a variety of topics. Several Field Trips are planned throughout the week including learning sessions at a local Chesapeake Energy well site and the Penn College Energy Technology Education Center in Williamsport, PA.

Dates: July 14-19, 2013

Grades: 10-12

Residential Fee: $230.00 (includes all learning sessions, supplies, field trips, lodging & all meals)

Commuter Fee: $190.00 (includes all learning sessions, supplies, field trips, lunch & dinner each day)

Marcellus Seminar for Teachers and Educational Professionals 2013

The Marcellus Seminar will be offered this summer as a professional development opportunity for middle and high school educators and guidance counselors to explore the impacts and issues of Marcellus Shale natural gas extraction. Educators will participate in learning sessions and field trips that will address drilling techniques, air and water quality issues associated with the development of shale gas, and prevention measures that are taken to limit or negate environmental impacts. Each participant will leave with a tool-kit of educational materials that can be used in their classroom or school when discussing the natural gas industry.

Transportation Safety Day and Flagger Training

The goal of this training session is to increase the understanding of Pennsylvania’s transportation regulations and improve safe operating practices for drivers working to support natural gas development. Transportation Safety Day consists of four individual breakout sessions presented by PennDOT, PUC and PA State Police. Flagger Training consists of a four hour training session.
